Maintenance Work Experience Mentor (745)

Melusi Christian Community has a long-standing ministry called 'Temple Gate Ministry'.
This ministry cares for homeless adult men. Whilst we offer accommodation and food to these men, our prayer is for their spiritual nurturing. This takes place by means of ministry sessions, counselling and a work therapy program, including empowerment opportunities in various kinds of crafts and skills. Many are affected and addicted substance abusers and have been rejected by their families and society.

This role is for someone willing to lead (or co-lead) and work closely with a group of 10-25 destitute men of which many have a background of substance abuse. At Melusi we keep our grounds neat and tidy, we repair our tools, our machines and buildings, with which we build and renovate. In all of this our destitute men work as part of their recovery therapy.

You would be eager to serve these individuals, to invest your time and effort into their lives while working, talking and praying together.

As part of our team, you would also share spiritual inputs with our men.

Melusi is a 24/7 ministry and a community of believers living and serving together in various ministries. Temple Gate Ministry involvement will not be your sole responsibility. You will work alongside team members and have opportunities in other Melusi ministries as well.

Requirements:

Be a handyman, technically interested and/or willing to learn, a carpenter or a builder, plumber, electrician or the like.
