WEC International has been operating since 1913, beginning with ministry in the Congo by CT Studd. Throughout the world today WEC is present in 80 countries sharing the Hope of Jesus to people who have not heard, or have little chance to hear, of Jesus. In the 1950's work began in Australia to encourage people into WEC's intercultural ministries. In 1956 a training college was begun in Launceston, Tasmania, which has (and is still) trained almost 2,000 people for Cross Cultural work.
WEC currently has several ministries to those who find themselves in need of help, including Rainbows of Hope for children and Betel for those with drug dependancies.
Recognising the increase in refugees and others requiring help, in 2021 WEC Australia set up WEC Hope as a direct ministry to help those in need.
Currently there are two main support ministries, the Sydney Refugee Team and Freedom to Flourish, who both work specifically with refugees who find themselves in a new country, new language, new rules, new culture having left all they had in their homeland.
In the future we will add more ministries within WEC Hope.
