“Missionary English Training Course” (METC) is designed to train cross-cultural Christian workers in English, focusing on the Bible, missions and English for their daily growth and strength for ministry. The trainees live and study together in a residential community setting.
Native English speakers are welcome to assist the trainees in the further development of their English language skills. We seek to make METC is an international community where the trainees can become comfortable with foreigners and in their use of English. The course will run from January 7~February 28, 2026. . Requirements Teacher’s Requirements: Prospective teachers should have the following: • a confidence of salvation through Jesus Christ • Experience with local church membership and ministry involvement • a passion for the mission. • a servant heart • a basic sound Bible knowledge • good health • a good sense of humour • a fluent native speaker of English with good teaching skills • a flexible, cooperative spirit to work with and for others • a team spirit • TESOL certificates are not essential for this ministry. Instead, we greatly respect and prioritise the experience of those who have taught English.
As an METC teacher, your day begins at 8.30am with a staff meeting, followed by 4 hours of classes, with additional time spent grading assignments and mentoring students. Each day officially ends at 5:00 pm, when dinner is served. There are no classes on Saturdays and Sundays.
Because our focus is on equipping potential missionaries for the field and not merely on teaching English, the course curriculum will include lessons on preaching, sharing of personal testimonies, and prayer. All staff will need to prepare to share their personal testimonies, and at least one sermon. The course curriculum will also include one-on-one mentoring, in which teachers will be matched to students.
