The role involves providing strategic oversight of WEC Senegal's finances, while providing accountability to the branch as a whole for how funds are distributed and spent. The treasurer ensures that the finances of the branch are run smoothly and are managed in accordance with WEC's financial ethos. Responsibilities include: overseeing bookkeeping and banking; writing and updating Finance policies; monitoring the branches overall financial position and ensuring that the branch acts financially within Senegalese law.
Qualifications: An ability to see the wider picture from a financial point of view. Experience in accounting, bookkeeping or business in general is an asset, however if you can manage your finances well and can understand a 'Profit and Loss' statement or a 'Balance sheet' then you should be fine. A good understanding of English is needed, as the 'books' are done in English, but French of a good level is also needed in order to understand the environment of Senegal and to communicate with local people. This is not a full time ministry. depending on gifts and abilities you could be part of a Church Planting, children's or support ministry team.
