Café Ministry Outreach (93)

Vision: We want Christ to be known, loved and worshipped by peoples and groups of people in France and throughout the world who still have no access to the Gospel.

If you have a heart to reach and serve the poor and vulnerable, then volunteering in this cafe will give you that opportunity. Based in a poor social housing area of the town of Hauteville, it provides a place to meet, chat, share testimony, pray with those who ask, encourage and show love to the needy and the lonely. There are a number of nationalities and migrants as well as white French who visit the cafe. The team is always looking for ways to engage with the community depending on the gifts, abilities and ideas of those who come to serve. You will be working with a small network of church plants and house churches and will have the opportunity to be involved in church ministry, depending on your gifts and skills. Qualifications: French language fluency or a willingness to learn is necessary. Barista skills an advantage.

Accommodation: You will stay at church, where there are bedrooms and a fully fitted kitchen for self-catering. You may have to share a bedroom and bathroom if a mission team visits.

Costs: approx. 630€/month, not including travel to Lisieux, visa and health cover. Cost in Euros. Health (& Travel) cover Carte de séjour (1 year) (for Non-EU stays over 3 months, or non-tourist visas). Roughly - 77€ for students - 280€+ other. Lodging/Room at church (covers all amenities such as water, electricity, washing machine, gas and internet + fixed phone) 350€/month. Food - Depends on diet! 120 - 200€/month. Possible Extra Costs to consider: Emergency & Miscellaneous: Approx. 35€/month. In country travel: if you wish to visit other WEC work or visit Paris, see sites etc. Lisieux is small enough to walk or bike. 50€/month. Language study/helper costs: Depends on requirements.
