If you're looking to regularly relate to someone with extensive cross-cultural missions experience to help you move forward in cross-cultural missions, an internship could be just right.
Over a set period of time (usually 12 months), you will be involved in customised activities to help you find and live out your pathway into mission. Core Activities include:
Meeting with a mentor at least once a month;
A Perspectives course or Bible College unit in cross-cultural training;
Meeting regularly with other interns and people seeking their place in missions;
Evangelism and discipleship among unreached people groups locally or intensively in Western Sydney;
Participation in the planning and organisation of mission events;
Praying and listening to God’s voice for personal direction as well as peoples’ needs;
A WEC Trek overseas of 1-3 months.
The list of possible other activities is almost endless. At the beginning of your internship, you and your mentor will meet to work out together what your needs are, and plan a schedule. Your time commitment could be as little as a few hours per week up to full time.
Pre-requisites for involvement are:
Active involvement in a local ministry which is endorsed by your church leadership;
Sincere desire to explore and prepare for long term cross cultural ministry with a mentor;
Openness to WEC’s vision;
Heart desire for God and to follow wherever He leads and do whatever He asks.
Costs will depend on accommodation, the courses undertaken and transport needed within Australia and/or overseas. There will be a once-off $30 application fee and $50 contribution for mentoring and orientation.
