Prayer Gathering 2019 - a review

PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT HAS NOW CONCLUDED.

March 2019 saw about 80 people join together at Advent Park, Perth, WA for our 5th annual Prayer Gathering. See below for details and reflections.

"What an awesome time! We had around 80 people over the weekend – which is very encouraging, our largest yet. It was challenging, worshipful and significant as we gathered to pray and intercede for unreached peoples. It was great to see a number of young people join us this time – they are so fired up for missions."

So, what was it like being at Prayer Gathering 2019? We asked a few people for their thoughts during the event. Check out this video to find out what they thought.

We hope to see you at Prayer Gathering 2020.

About Prayer Gathering

15 March 5:30pm - 17 March 1:30pm 2019

Our national Prayer Gatherings provide one way for us to come together with like minded pray-ers around the country to join in informed and discerned prayer on behalf of the nations. There is always a strong worship component that extends beyond singing alone, and surrounds all we do. By focusing on God first, we come into a deeper place of prayer and discernment.

The weekend will contain some teaching on principles to help us pray and on selected nations and people groups, along with space given for the Holy Spirit to guide us in our praying. Many sessions will also feature the options for creative prayer for those who are so inclined. 2019 Prayer Gathering will feature an art exhibition, which will be integral in how we pray for the nations.

Our presenters and facilitators are people who have firsthand experience of cross-cultural missions, as well as experience in praying for the nations. This year's special guests are Wayne and Miriam Cowpland, WEC's International Directors for Prayer and Research.

Our hope is that you come with hearts to pray, and leave inspired and informed as together we touch the heart of God for the nations that he came to save.

The Program

This year's theme, "Light in Dark Places" will consist of sessions that explore (with space for prayer and reflection) themes like:

* What is the darkness?

* What does it means for us to be 'light in the darkness'?

* You are the light of the world.

* Victory over the darkness.

* What happened in one dark place

We will also be engaging in Prayer, taking the time to pray for those who are carrying this light, as well as multiple sessions of strategic prayer aiming to pierce the darkness in a number of nations. This will include sessions for developing such prayer plans together.

On Sunday we will draw closer to home, taking the time to pray for our own nation of Australia, for the Australian Church, including for indigenous Australia. There will be opportunities to share what God has been saying to you over the weekend too.

God is always at work shining His light; ministering love and grace and bringing transformation to the world. Jesus invites us to join with Him in His light bringing; calling us to our knees in intercession for those He loves and died for. If you are an intercessor at heart, exploring your role in prayer or missions or just want to pray then this prayer gathering is for you.

Be Part of this great weekend as people from around Australia join together for a weekend of prayer, worship, fellowship and art. That's right, this year's Prayer Gathering will include an exhibit of artwork on the theme of light in dark places. Experience how art and creativity can feature as a significant part of your prayer and spiritual life.

Join us as we pray for many nations, including our own, that the light of God will shine in the dark places of the world.
