Jesus' story thrills children in Japan

What a lovely surprise we had today! It was nearly lunch time when suddenly two little girls opened the door and came inside the entrance lobby that is in all Japanese houses. They are both 10 years old, and are among our few regulars at the children’s meetings. Their first words were, “We couldn’t come to the last children's meeting!” Being school holidays, other arrangements had been made for them.

So we chatted for a while about all the exciting things that they had been doing while school is out. Then one of them said suddenly, “Won’t you please tell us the story of Jesus that we missed the other day?” So there and then, right in the entrance, we had an impromptu Bible story time with flannel graph pictures. It was so encouraging for us to know that it is the Bible and the stories of Jesus, even more than the games, that have become attractive to them.
