I should have known better - especially after my last post where I reminded everyone that the language we use isn't always understood by others! But there I was, explaining to someone of another culture than mine that we were a group of Christians. Their response was: "Christian: Is that another nationality?".

They were absolutely genuine - the word 'Christian' wasn't one that had any meaning to them. And so I had 2 seconds to think about how to answer their question. I think I did OK, but I wonder what you would have said - would love to hear from you by your comments below.

It brought home 2 things to me:

  1. Always be prepared to give a reason for the hope within you - you never know when you might be asked!
  2. When you are asked, will you be able to use words and concepts that make sense to the person who asked you? If not, then what will you do to get ready?
