A WEC Story by Susanna
I have been meditating on Proverbs 18:10 in my recent devotions, especially in the past three months or so. I have seen in every situation that the Lord is my anchor and we can run to Him, all because of His mercy and grace. We are justified through the Lord Jesus Christ and we can come to know Him and we can come to Him in any situation because He is our anchor, our support and our help at all times.
The flight to my new town was a very exciting one. The weather on that day was very bad with a combination of wind and rain. An hour after take-off I heard the captain say that the weather at our destination was very bad, so it was impossible to land and the plane might have to return to where we started. The plane tried to land once but failed, and we quickly went back into the air. In the midst of this, I saw the passengers around me start to fidget, but thankfully the Lord gave me a peace in my heart. After hovering in the air for almost an hour, the plane landed smoothly and safely. The name of the LORD is a fortified tower, even in bad conditions, the righteous will be safe when they run to Him.
I stayed with team members for a month and had the opportunity to get to know this American missionary couple and their children better. Although at first I tried to understand the church planting ministry here and the different culture in my own way, God taught me to be more observant, communicate more, and understand what He is already doing in this place. I found the beauty in working with my co-workers and just be present here. When I came here, I also saw the missionary couple faithfully teaching English and leading various Bible studies. They have been leading the Bible studies for almost three years and have not seen any fruit yet, but they have developed a deep friendship with the Japanese people in the area and regular people come to the Bible studies every time. What touches me is that every week when we get together to pray, they still shed tears for these Japanese people and pray for their salvation. The name of the LORD is a fortified tower, even though they have not seen any fruit yet, they still rejoice in the LORD and run into the arms of the Lord for peace.
