Will you pray and understand reality more as you read this update from a WEC missionary?
Life is hard here in our medical clinic in Africa. This is an urgent request for your prayers. Our one doctor went home very tired & exhausted for 1 month leave. Now her doctor has said she needs to take more time out to recover.
The plan was that the doctor would be back before others left for holidays. Now this leaves things very thin on the ground while I am gone.
As we don't know yet how long the doctor will be away it is difficult to plan. A short term doctor comes end of May but there would need to be another doctor here to work her in.
Staff have also been pushing themselves hard since we have had only one doctor (beginning December) and many are very tired.
We hang onto His word which says "My grace is sufficient for you, My power is made perfect in your weakness"
And yet in the midst of this, God is working!!
A friend's 10 year old daughter was brought critically ill with nephrotic syndrome on Monday morning. Her father is one of the few Christians in our area. He lost his wife last year to cancer. This man's daughter had a huge high blood pressure - she fitted and was in a coma. If it had happened one day earlier I would have had to send her off to the government hospital as I wouldn't have felt confident to manage her. As it was a doctor was here (she arrived Sunday evening) and think she got the best treatment out of anywhere in the whole country!! She had all sort of drugs for hypertension and all sort of sedatives and pain killers.
She was critically ill and the second day it was touch and go but many people were praying as you can imagine. Anyway since yesterday she is fully conscious and today is starting to talk and eat!! Praise the Lord!! After losing his wife it would have been beyond belief for our Christian friend to lose a child also. I am so grateful to God for providing help when it was needed.
