Betel drug rehabilitation continues to expand

When Australian worker Karen Monson went with WEC to Spain, I’m sure she didn’t imagine she would end up working with drug addicts in Argentina. However, that is where she and her now husband Pedro, along with their children Ruth and David are currently ministering.

After opening a Betel centre in the north of the country several years ago, they recently moved to La Plata to establish another Betel community. They report, “We have seen God’s hand in so many ways in at the beginning of this new work. La Plata is a city of about 900,000, the administrative capital of Buenos Aires Province. It is a beautiful city, especially now that spring is here, but marred by a big problem with drug addiction and delinquency.” They have rented a house for the community which could house about 12 men. With a coat of paint, the Betel logo in place and a bit of work on the inside and the front yard it is ready for business! To promote the centre Pedro and other members of the team have been distributing Betel calendars in shops and businesses. The response has been positive because many people know someone who has a problem with drugs or alcohol and because people are tired of the robberies and delinquency. There have been some telephone enquiries but they have yet to see a local man come into the community. Please pray with them for the first man from La Plata.
