Resistance breaking down in Asian village

Members of a family in an Asian village resistant to the truth are one by one becoming followers of Jesus.

One of the family members, a student of WEC church planter 'Lauren' and colleagues, was the first in the family to believe.

“He was the first of three brothers to come to our Father,” Lauren said.

“His two brothers then, one by one, believed also.”

“They then all shared with their mother who slowly, over time, came to faith.”

“Recently the boys were afraid to go home [for a traditional celebration] as they were afraid their uncle would ask them to assist with Buddhist religious practices,” Lauren said.

“To refuse would seem both disrespectful and unhelpful, yet they knew they should not be involved.”

“The middle brother had previously thought it was hopeless to try to share with his adult uncle, but recently had felt challenged to do so anyway.”

“As a result his uncle told the boys’ mother that he wanted to study the way of his nephew, and he too now believes!”

The brothers come from a village that has been very resistant to the gospel, and the boys’ father is openly critical of their faith.

“Adults from our target people here have been very difficult to reach,” Lauren said.

Some of the young believers in the area are wanting to marry, and WEC church planters ask for prayer that wise choices will be made.

“Our young people are reaching marriageable age, and our desire is that they would see the importance of choosing a Christian partner,” said Lauren.

“Please pray for God’s provision in this.”

Lauren also asks for prayer as a culturally-appropriate movie entitled Hope is translated into relevant languages.

“Pray that God will continue to provide the blessings and momentum for people to come to Him in our target area,” she said.
