CPers do a Luke 10 in Bulgaria

Two WEC church planters in Bulgaria have been walking between local villages with nothing more than the clothes on their back and some Bibles, following the biblical example set by Jesus when he sent out the 72 workers in pairs (Luke 10).

“We decided to walk between villages looking for a ‘Person of Peace’,” WEC church planter Richard said.

With only coins for the bus fare, several Bibles and a dvd, the pair set off on their first expedition.

“We will almost certainly have to spend the night somewhere,” Richard's colleague Robert said before they departed.

“And we’d prefer that to be in the house of people wanting to know about Jesus, rather than under a tree in the forest!”

Their first encounter was with a farmer, who invited them for coffee and took a Bible, as did some local women.

“We then met a shepherd who was watching his flock, who was very pleased to receive a Bible from us,” said Richard.

“He told us to give it to everyone we encountered and was looking at it when we left.”

Richard and Robert spent the night in the home of a local believer, ‘Ezra’, who they hadn’t realised lived in the area.

“Ezra had actually prayed for Robert to come and God showed him a vision of two white doves who would visit him,” said Richard.

“His family are not yet believers but they are open, and we were able to pray for his father who has said he wants to follow Jesus.”

A few weeks later Richard and Robert again went on a 'Luke 10 expedition', this time with bicycles.

They again gave out several Bibles, spoke with the head of a village, and this time spent the night in the home of a local couple they met as they walked.

Robert shared the story of the anointing of King David with the couple, and while the husband did not express any real interest, the wife took a Bible and invited them to visit again.
