Don't Forget the Buddhists

Last week I went with some friends to a Buddhist Temple in Perth. It was awe inspiring in its beauty. Clean and peaceful. The Venerable spoke to us for over an hour and then gave us the grand tour. The highlights included the meditation cells were one can stay for many days just thinking (or not thinking). I find Buddhism hard to understand as the initial way they view life is different.

Explaining The Trinity

A few days ago I was downtown giving away Jesus DVDs. A man from Somalia said to me "How can you Christians worship three gods, the Father, Son and Mary." He wanted to know how Christians could be so idolatrous. I used a relational model to explain the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. He was not impressed. He still believed we worshiped three gods.

Church Planter Forgets People Are Different

Last week I was with a multicultural group of ten people. Arabic, Iranian, Chinese, Korean, Turkish etc. Many were good friends and we had an enjoyable night but I seriously started to wonder where all the ethnic people had gone. I felt as if everyone was just like me. This was really weird, our ethnicity had disappeared! It was really hard to think of them as different to myself.
