Test Drive is Testing Us

Twelve people. Experiencing for the first time what its like to 'be' a missionary. Its part of our Test Drive program in Western Sydney where you join an active church planting team for a week and do all the things a church planter does. We talked to Pakistani students in their lounge room discussing a million ideas from their world.

A super group of 6 young people and their intrepid Tasmanian leaders Steve and Marie have just completed a Test Drive in Western Sydney. This means they have experienced church planting amongst unreached people groups. This is what they said about their time:

"I was excited that we are looking for people of peace and not theological arguments"

"Not as difficult as I thought"

Spell 'Church Planting'

Interact and be interested in Hijab clad ladies who are organising charity events
Nourish little children at Chinese birthday parties
Treasure Hunt with Middle Eastern ladies on Council Clean-up day
Entertain toddlers while Hindu mothers take tests
kNead homemade pasta with Pakistani ladies

God did not send a cheque, he sent his son

Are missionaries still needed, especially in the classical sense of pioneer church planting. I have been discussing this with our ej Learning Community. We are reading Thomas Hale's book On Being A Missionary together. I have often thought we in the Western world could wiggle out of going cross culturally to the remaining 1.7 billion yet to hear about Christ.
